RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College corner infielder Scott De Jong (North Haledon, N.J./Eastern Christian) has been ranked as the nation's 17th-best professional baseball prospect in NCAA Division II this season by the national scouting service Perfect Game USA.

Perfect Game published its NCAA Division II Preview, including its preseason top 10 teams and top 25 prospects, on Jan. 31. De Jong is the only player on the list of 25 who plays in the East Region.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound De Jong is a draft-eligible sophomore. In his redshirt freshman season for Felician in 2013, the first-baseman hit .228 with a .323 on-base percentage, 12 extra-base hits, 14 runs scored and 23 runs batted in during 48 games.

De Jong went on to become the Player of the Year in the New York Collegiate Baseball League last summer. In 39 games with the Wellsville Nitros, he hit .310 and slugged .646 with an NYCBL record 14 homeruns and league highs of 47 runs and 49 RBI.
