RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior Aaron Brill (West Palm Beach, Fla./John I. Leonard) has been elected to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NCAA Division II All East Region First Team, the ABCA announced on Monday.
Brill, a 6-foot, 190-pound shortstop, was elected all-region in his first competitive season at Felician. He becomes the eighth Golden Falcon to earn that honor since Felician became an NCAA program in 2003. The Golden Falcons garnered a First Team selection for the second consecutive year; outfielder Joe Petosa was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association First Team in 2012.
Brill is the fourth all-region performer in any sport for Felician in the 2012-13 academic year, joining cross-country runners Rob Albano and Taylor Trumbetti and basketball standout Antoine Obery.
In 48 games this season, Brill batted .352, good for fourth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). His 70 hits tied for third in the CACC and are the third highest single-season total in Felician history. He also tied for 10th in the conference with 17 stolen bases. Brill scored 31 runs and drove in 32, and set school records with 150 defensive assists and with a 15-game hitting streak.
Brill has also been honored this spring as First-Team All-CACC, All-CACC Tournament, and Second-Team All-New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association. He took a "redshirt" season in 2012 after transferring from Kirkwood Community College.
The Division II East Region consists of the CACC, East Coast Conference, and Northeast-10 Conference. In total, 34 teams are encompassed.
Felician (21-32, 10-10 CACC) tied for fifth place in the regular-season CACC standings. As the No. 5 seed, the Golden Falcons placed third in the conference tournament.
