Brill, Vasto Named CACC All-Tournament

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Two Felician College baseball players – junior shortstop Aaron Brill (West Palm Beach, Fla./John I. Leonard) and sophomore pitcher Jerry Vasto (Atlantic Highlands, N.J./Henry Hudson Regional) – were named to the 2013 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Tournament Team.

The All-Tournament Team was announced at the conclusion of the CACC championship game on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field in New Castle, Del. The squad was selected by the tournament's media relations staff. The complete team is listed below.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Brill, batting in the No. 2 spot in the Felician line-up, went 7 for 17 (.412) with a double and a triple in four tournament games. He scored three runs, and drove in two, and posted an on-base percentage of .474. Brill had a hit in all four games to set a Golden Falcon record with a 15-game hitting streak. He was also voted to the All-CACC First Team. He is a 2009 graduate of John I. Leonard High.

Vasto, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound left-hander, started and earned the win in Felician's 2-0 losers' bracket victory over regionally-ranked Dominican (N.Y.) College on Friday. In six-plus innings, he gave up three hits, struck out seven batters and walked none. Vasto improved to 3-1 on the year. He is a 2010 product of Henry Hudson Regional of Highlands.

After going 10-10 in CACC play to qualify for the conference tournament as the No. 5 seed, Felician won a road game against Philadelphia University in last Tuesday's "playdown" round, then advanced to the losers' bracket final in the main draw to finish third. The Golden Falcons finished with an overall won-lost record of 21-32.
