RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior Aaron Brill (West Palm Beach, Fla./John I. Leonard) has been elected to the 2013 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball First Team. Felician senior Vic Monteagudo (West Palm Beach, Fla./John I. Leonard) and sophomore Jack Fowler (Shrewsbury, N.J./Red Bank Regional) were named to the All-CACC Second Team.
The conference's award winners, which were voted on by its 11 head coaches, were announced and presented Wednesday night at the CACC Awards Banquet in New Castle, Del.
All three players are all-conference selections for the first time. Brill, a shortstop, entered Thursday batting .344 with 12 extra-base hits, 28 runs scored, 30 runs batted in and 17 stolen bases. His 64 hits rank No. 3 all-time at Felician for a single season and put him third in the CACC.
Monteagudo, a right-handed pitcher, is third in the CACC in both earned-run average (2.09) and strikeouts (55) despite a 3-4 record. On three occasions this season, he was defeated in a start by a 1-0 score. He has give up 60 hits in 73 1/3 innings for an opponent batting average of .224.
Fowler was named to the sole Second Team spot for relief pitchers. The left-hander entered Thursday leading the league in appearances with a school-record 30. He is 5-5 with two saves, and ranks second in the CACC in strikeouts and ninth in ERA.
Felician finished the 2012-13 academic year with 16 all-conference student-athletes.
Felician (20-31) lost in Thursday's first-round of the CACC Tournament main draw. The Golden Falcons face Dominican (N.Y.) College (28-21) in an elimination game on Friday at noon at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del.
