RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman John Holland (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Liberty) has been chosen as the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) Division II/III Rookie Pitcher of the Week for the period ending May 5, the NJCBA announced today.
Holland, a 5-foot-9, 180-pound right-handed reliever, appeared in all four games during Felician's 1-3 week, including both ends of a doubleheader split with nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday. For the week, he tossed four scoreless innings, allowed two singles, struck out five batters, and walked two. Opponents hit .143 against him.
Holland has a 3-2 record, a team-high four saves, and a 2.08 earned-run average for the Golden Falcons this season. He is tied for fourth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with 25 appearances. In 34 2/3 innings, he has given up 18 hits, struck out 39, walked 21, and pitched to an opponent batting average of .149. Holland is a 2012 graduate of Jackson Liberty High.
