RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior Aaron Brill (West Palm Beach, Fla./John I. Leonard) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball co-Player of the Week for the period ending May 5, the CACC announced today.
Brill went 10 for 15 at the plate during Felician's 1-3 week that concluded the regular season. He picked up a double and a triple, scored six runs, and drove in four. During the Golden Falcons' lone win, a 14-2 Game 1 triumph in a road doubleheader against nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday, he was 4 for 6, including 2 for 2 with two runs scored in Felician's 10-run sixth inning.
Brill, a 6-foot, 190-pound shortstop, is Felician's leading hitter on the season. His .346 batting average is good for sixth in the CACC, and his 63 hits are the most in a season by a Golden Falcon since the CACC began using wood bats in 2008. He also leads Felician in on-base percentage (.381) and runs batted in (30). Brill is a 2009 graduate of John I. Leonard High of Greenacres, Fla.
Brill is in his first competitive season with the Golden Falcons. He took a "redshirt" year in 2012 after transferring from Kirkwood Community College of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is the first Felician baseball player to win the CACC Player of the Week award in 2013.
Brill shared this week's honor with junior third-baseman Josh Hampton of nationally-ranked Wilmington (Del.) University. More information is available at http://www.caccathletics.org/sports/bsb/2012-13/releases/20130506-baseballreport.pdf.
Felician (19-30, 10-10) is the No. 5 seed in this week's CACC Championship Tournament. The Golden Falcons will travel to No. 4 seed Philadelphia University on Tuesday for a 2 p.m. playdown round contest.
