Tackett Named NJCBA Player Of The Week

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior Jordan Tackett (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) has been chosen as the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) Division II/III Player of the Week for the period ending March 10, the NJCBA announced late Tuesday.

Felician was 3-1 last week in games in which Tackett appeared, and 0-3 in the three he missed due to injury. For the week, he hit .462 (6 for 13) with four extra-base hits, slugging 1.077. He drove in six runs and scored four. All six RBI came in a March 6 victory over then-nationally-ranked Stonehill College, in which he hit a tie-breaking grand slam in the top of the eighth inning. It was Felician's first grand slam in nearly five years.

Tackett is a mid-year transfer from Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, Va. A 6-foot-1, 190-pound utility man, he has seen time at third base, left field and designated hitter this season, appearing in 14 games with 11 starts. He leads the Golden Falcons with a .300 batting average and a .550 slugging percentage. Tackett is a 2009 graduate of Stafford High.
