RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College sophomore Stephen Paladino (Brooklyn, NY/St. Peter's Boys) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the CACC announced today.
Paladino, a 5-foot-9 right-hander, was selected on the strength of his home conference victory over Caldwell College on Apr. 4. Starting Game 1 of Felician's doubleheader sweep of the Cougars, Paladino allowed one run (none earned) on seven hits in six innings of his team's eventual 5-2 victory. He struck out eight batters, walked three, and stranded seven Caldwell runners.
On the season, Paladino has appeared in 12 games, starting three. He is 2-1 with a 2.56 earned-run average and two saves. In 31 2/3 innings, he has given up 32 hits, struck out 37 batters, and walked 20. Paladino is a 2009 graduate of St. Peter's High of Staten Island.
Paladino is in his third season at Felician, having appeared in 10 games in 2010 before being injured and granted a medical waiver. He already ranks fourth on the Golden Falcons' career strikeout list with 129.
Paladino is the second Golden Falcon this season to be named CACC Pitcher of the Week. Senior right-hander Kenny Monteith (Denville, NJ/Morristown-Beard) was honored on Feb. 28.
Felician is a member of NCAA Division II. The Golden Falcons have a 15-16 overall won-lost record heading into tonight's non-league home game against Adelphi University. Felician sits in second place in the CACC with an 8-2 conference mark.
