RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University seniors Steph Donah (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) and Kenny Monfort (Spring Valley, N.Y./St. Joseph Regional [N.J.]) have been named the 2018-19 Felician Female and Male Senior Student-Athletes of the Year. Both were honored by Felician president Dr. Anne M. Prisco at the athletics department's annual senior banquet last Sunday night at the Holiday Inn-Hasbrouck Heights.
The Felician Senior Student-Athletes of the Year are the female and male graduating athletes who, as selected by department administrators, best represent the mission statement of Golden Falcon athletics. Academic performance, athletic contribution, citizenship and leadership both inside and outside of athletics are among the selection criteria.
Donah, a center fielder for the softball team, breaks a three-year streak of women's soccer players capturing the honor (2016-Julia Sheridan; 2017-Carly Brantner; 2018-Amanda Nowak). In a school-record 181 games, she completed her college career with 172 hits, 35 doubles, 15 home runs, 87 runs scored and 96 runs batted in, all among the top five players in Golden Falcon history. A two-time Second-Team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honoree, Donah helped lead Felician to three trips to the CACC playoffs.
Donah is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma college athlete honor society and the Kappa Delta Phi education honor society. She volunteers as a babysitter at Church Alive in Rutherford and as a summer camp counselor for children with autism for the Union County Education System Commission. She carries a 3.42 grade-point average in secondary education with a minor in science. Donah is a 2015 graduate of Arthur L. Johnson High School.
Monfort ends the baseball team's five-year stranglehold on the male version of the award (2014-Joe Petosa; 2015-Matthew Facendo; 2016-Dean Loucka; 2017-Andrew LaMura; 2018-Matt Diesel & Bruce Strickland). A two-time second-team All-CACC selection, Monfort totaled 19 goals (three game-winners) and two assists in 57 career games. His senior season ended with a four-game goal-scoring streak.
Monfort owns a 3.16 GPA as a management major. He was born in Haiti but raised in Rockland (N.Y.) County, where he now serves as a volunteer youth soccer clinician. He is a 2015 graduate of St. Joseph Regional High of Montvale, N.J.
The athletics department also honored its 41 senior student-athletes across its 14 intercollegiate NCAA Division II sports at Sunday night's banquet.
